Embark on an unforgettable horseback adventure through the picturesque Khangai region of Mongolia. This 14-day trip will take you deep into the wilderness, where you'll ride horses and explore the stunning Naiman Nuur, or Eight Lakes. Immerse yourself in nomadic culture, witness breathtaking landscapes, and experience the rich history and traditions of Mongolia. Get ready for an authentic and exhilarating horseback journey unlike any other.

 

 

ITINERARY:

 

Day 1: Arrive in Ulaanbaatar

Upon your arrival in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia's capital city, you'll be greeted by our guide and transferred to your hotel. Take some time to rest and relax after your journey. In the evening, enjoy a welcome dinner, where you'll have the opportunity to meet your fellow adventurers and learn more about the upcoming horseback adventure.

Day 2: Exploration in Ulaanbaatar

​

Explore the vibrant heart of Mongolia's capital city on our guided Ulaanbaatar city tour. Begin your day with a visit to the historic Gandan Monastery, where the echoes of Buddhist chants mingle with the scent of burning incense. Marvel at the towering statue of Migjid Janraisig, a symbol of peace and compassion.

Next, we'll delve into the rich tapestry of Mongolia's past at the National History Museum, where ancient artifacts and exhibits bring the nation's heritage to life. Stroll through Sukhbaatar Square, the bustling civic center of Ulaanbaatar, and admire its grand architecture as we make our way to Rosewood restaurant for lunch. As we wind through the city's streets, witness the harmonious blend of tradition and modernity, from the bustling markets to the contemporary landmarks.

Our city tour offers a captivating glimpse into the dynamic soul of Ulaanbaatar, a city where history and progress converge. Before dinner you will have the opportunity to immerse yourself in the traditional performance arts of Mongolia. Lastly, the night ends with dinner at a local restaurant.

Day 3: Ulaanbaatar - Khustai National Park

​

Embark on a wildlife-filled day from Ulaanbaatar to Khustai National Park. This pristine sanctuary, known for its diverse ecosystem, promises encounters with native species like the Przewalski's horse. Guided by experts, hike through picturesque terrain, seeking glimpses of indigenous wildlife. From marmots to red deer, the park teems with natural wonders. Khustai National Park offers a unique window into Mongolia's untamed beauty, a day of wildlife exploration you won't soon forget.

Day 4: Khustai National Park - Ulziit Sum Nomads

​

Today, we'll journey to the Ulziit Sum region, where we'll be welcomed by local horsemen nomads. Immerse yourself in their nomadic way of life, learning about their traditions, customs, and the deep connection they have with their horses. Gain hands-on experience in tending to the animals, participate in making dairy products, and expand your knowledge about the importance of horses in Mongolian culture. Stay overnight in a traditional ger camp, sharing stories and cultural experiences with the nomadic families.

Day 5: Ulziit Sum Nomads

Today is dedicated to further immersing ourselves in the nomadic culture. Spend the day alongside the horsemen nomads, engaging in various activities such as herding animals, milking cows, and making dairy products like traditional Mongolian cheese and curds. Later, we will get a chance to set up a traditional Ger (mobile home) on our own. This hands-on experience will provide the opportunity to learn about our extensive horse culture and gain a deeper understanding of the nomadic way of life.

Day 6: Ulziit Sum - Ulaan Tsutgalan Waterfall

Our journey continues as we drive to the Ulaan Tsutgalan Waterfall, nestled in the picturesque Khangai Mountains. Take a leisurely walk around the area, exploring the natural beauty and capturing the mesmerizing views with your camera. Enjoy a peaceful and rejuvenating day, resting by the tranquil waterfall and immersing yourself in the serene surroundings. Settle into the ger camp for the night, savoring the tranquility of the Mongolian wilderness.

Day 7-10: Horseback Trip - Naiman Nuur Region  

​

For the next four days, embark on a thrilling horseback adventure through the Naiman Nuur region, also known as the Eight Lakes. Ride through the enchanting pine forest mountains, breathing in the crisp mountain air and taking in the awe-inspiring views.

Explore the pristine lakes dotting the landscape, capturing the reflections of the mountains and the clear blue sky. Each day, you'll ride to a new location, setting up camp in ger camps along the way, where you'll enjoy hearty meals and share stories around the campfire under the starry Mongolian sky.

Day 11: Naiman Nuur - Ulaan Tsutgalan  

​

Today, we'll make our way back to Ulaan Tsutgalan, where we'll have some well-deserved rest and relaxation. Reflect on the incredible horseback journey you've experienced and soak in the memories of the Khangai region. In the evening, celebrate the successful completion of your adventure with a traditional Mongolian feast, savoring delicious local cuisine.

Day 12: Ulaan Tsutgalan - Kharakhorum  

​

Embark on a drive to the ancient capital of Kharakhorum, a city rich in history and culture. Explore the remnants of the once-thriving Mongol Empire, visiting historical sites and landmarks. Discover the magnificence of Erdene-Zuu Monastery, the oldest Buddhist monastery in Mongolia, known for its stunning architecture and spiritual significance.

Immerse yourself in the vibrant culture and heritage of the region. Spend the night in a cozy ger camp, surrounded by the echoes of Mongolia's glorious past.

Day 13: Kharakhorum - Ulaanbaatar

​

As our horseback adventure comes to an end, we'll journey back to Ulaanbaatar, reminiscing about the memories created along the way. In the evening, enjoy a memorable farewell dinner, where you can share your experiences and bid farewell to your fellow travelers. Return to your hotel for a comfortable night's rest.

In the morning, after breakfast, you'll be transferred to the airport for your departure from Ulaanbaatar. Depart with cherished memories of your horseback adventure in the Khangai region, carrying the spirit of Mongolia with you.

Cancellation :

Virgn Terra requires all cancellations to be submitted in official written form (digital forms accepted). You can make cancellations for any reason up to 8 weeks or 56 days before departure and receive a full refund, with an administrative processing fee of $150 deducted. The cancellation charges are determined by the number of days from the receipt of the written cancellation notice to the scheduled main trip departure date. The following time limit is implemented by Virgn Terra for the cancellation charge:

  • Before 56 days - $150

  • Between 55 to 46 days - 50% of total trip cost

  • 45 days or less - 100% of total trip cost

If you choose to cancel within 60 days of departure and opt to reschedule your trip, 100% of your payment will be applied as credit toward a future trip of the following year.

Travel Insurance : 

Virgn Terra does not offer travel insurance. We strongly recommend that all tourists secure their own travel insurance for comprehensive coverage during their journey. Travel insurance can provide essential protection against unexpected events, ensuring a smoother and more secure travel experience.

Terms :

Virgn Terra reserves the right to accept or reject any participant at its discretion or request withdrawal at the participant's expense, based on considerations of health, safety, or group well-being. In such cases, no refund will be provided, and Virgn Terra is not liable for unrecoverable expenses, including non-refundable tickets, medical costs, visa fees, or additional travel expenses.

Participants acknowledge that rates for transportation, hotels, and other services may change without notice due to fluctuations in tariffs and exchange rates. Participants agree to pay the full cost of services before the trip and any additional expenses incurred during the trip. Itineraries are subject to change, and Virgn Terra may adjust or substitute them for safety reasons. Participants are responsible for additional charges resulting from such changes.

Virgn Terra may take photographs or videos during trips for promotional purposes without compensating participants. Participants must review the itinerary with their physician, release Virgn Terra from liability for delays, itinerary changes, or cancellations, and confirm their physical capability for the selected trip.

Participants must obtain and carry the necessary travel documents. Travel, especially adventure activities, involves risks, and participants assume these risks, releasing Virgn Terra from liability for injuries or death during the trip.

Limitation of Liability, Assumption of Risks, Release, and Indemnification :

Participants accept Virgn Terra as an agent and release it from liability for injuries, damages, illnesses, delays, or irregularities caused by factors beyond Virgn Terra's control, such as machinery breakdowns, improper visas, or acts of authority. Virgn Terra is not responsible for changes in itinerary, travel modes, accommodations, or other program aspects. 

Participants assume the risks associated with travel to lesser developed countries, including personal safety risks and itinerary changes. Participants release Virgn Terra from any liability for injuries, damages, deaths, losses, accidents, delays, or expenses arising from such risks. Participants agree to adapt to circumstances, and Virgn Terra will make reasonable changes to itineraries.

Participants indemnify Virgn Terra from liability for injuries, damages, illnesses, deaths, losses, accidents, delays, or expenses resulting from acts or defaults beyond Virgn Terra's control. Participants release Virgn Terra from any responsibility for acts of carriers, hotels, or other service providers.

Participants also agree to indemnify and hold Virgn Terra harmless from liability, damages, claims, or demands arising from their trip participation. This includes claims subject to the release if made directly by the participant.
